Why the Awards Matter
The Mid West has an incredibly strong sporting culture, but much of the work that goes into community sport happens behind the scenes. The awards shine a spotlight on the:
- Outstanding athletic performances
- Dedication of coaches and officials
- Efforts of volunteers and administrators
- Successful clubs and sporting programs
- Contributions that strengthen regional communities through sport
- Community pride
- Profile of regional sport
In many ways, the event is the Mid West’s equivalent of the statewide WA Sport Awards, celebrating excellence at a regional level while recognising the unique challenges and achievements of country sport.

More Than an Awards Night
Now in its 54th year, the Mid West Sports Awards has been integral in celebrating a rich sporting culture in our Western Australian Mid West region. We do this each year as:
A Celebration of Regional Pride
The event brings together athletes, clubs, sponsors, local governments and community leaders to celebrate the achievements of the region’s sporting community.
Recognition for Volunteers
Many regional clubs rely entirely on volunteers. For many recipients, this may be the first formal recognition they have received for years of service.
Inspiration for Young Athletes
Seeing local athletes and sporting leaders recognised demonstrates that high achievement is possible while living and training in the Mid West.
A Networking Opportunity
The event creates valuable connections between sporting organisations, businesses, sponsors and government stakeholders.
